Judge Jessica Goodey was elected to the Las Vegas Justice Court in November of 2022 and took the bench in January 2023. Elected for a six-year term, she currently presides over a civil calendar.
Judge Goodey was admitted to the State Bar of Nevada in 2010, where she practiced primarily civil litigation. In addition to running her busy law practice, Judge Goodey served on the State Bar of Nevada's Board of Governors from 2018-2020, as well as an Alternate Judge for the Las Vegas Municipal Court from 2019 until taking the bench in 2023. During her years as an attorney, Judge Goodey was recognized by her peers as a "Super Lawyers Rising Star," "Legal Elite" in Nevada Business Magazine, and the AV-Preeminent Rating by Martindale-Hubbell, representing the highest level of professional excellence.
An Illinois native, Judge Goodey graduated in 2007 from University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and a minor in Italian. She received her Juris Doctorate from Boyd School of Law at the University of Nevada-Las Vegas, where she participated in and won several awards at mock trial competitions, including taking first place at the First Annual Society of Advocates Mock Trial Competition.
During law school, Judge Goodey was recognized for receiving the highest grade in her Trial Advocacy class and received a Dean's Award for her contributions to the school. Judge Goodey also participated in the Juvenile Justice Clinic in which she served as a student attorney representing kids through the juvenile criminal system.
Judge Goodey has called Las Vegas home since 2007. In her free time, you will find her spending time with her husband, son, and two dogs, traveling, and baking.
